Training Tasks

Brothers and Sister in Arms works with dogs to best meet the needs of their handlers in respect to what tasks the canine will have to preform.  We work with those people with Military Sexual Trauma (MST), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder/Syndrome, mobility issues, diabetes, vision or hearing impairments, psychiatric, seizures, and Autism.  This creates an array of needs having to be met for different individuals. Here are some of the different tasks the dogs have to preform to best aid their handlers. 
  • Giving Stability when needed
  • Pulling Handler out of a Stress Inducing Situation

  • Turning on/off Lights

  • Blocking or Covering the Handler when needed

  • Seizure Response
             - What the dog does once a seizure                         has started.

  • Seizure Alert
             - Alerting to the oncoming seizure                        through scent training.

  • Diabetic Response
                 - The dog retrieves insulin or other                       person during a diabetic                                         emergency.

  • Diabetic Alert
                - Alerting to the sugar levels within                      the handlers body through scent                          training.

  • Guide Dog
                 - Allows visually impaired                                       individuals move about more                               freely.
